I’ve just read a couple of reviews of this book and I find this quote ‘The minutes drag by, while the years tumble over each other and disappear.’ I don’t know if this is in the book or a description of Keith’s life by the reviewer.
I am a reader of a blog where the writer emailed me in response to a comment I made saying how much her son had grown since the last years holiday photos. This was her reply
‘We sure had a lot of fun! I know what you mean – it reminds me of a saying my Nanny had – ‘The days are long – but the years are short’..
That’s life as you look back. I’m going to read this book. I think I’ll find a lot to identify with. When I look at photos of myself taken through the years and then look in the mirror the difference is remarkable. Will the book tell me if Martin Amis feels like this?
